Rugby
The U16 Sevens competed in the All England 7s Tournament on March 8, facing a strong field. The team began impressively with 36-0 and 33-14 victories over Hurstpierpoint College and John Fisher, respectively. Pool matches against Brighton College (0-14) and KCS (12-14) proved more challenging.
In the knockout stages, St Paul’s responded superbly. They beat London Oratory School 19-12 in the quarter-final and overcame Bridgewater High School 19-12 in the semi-final to reach the Plate final. Despite a strong performance, the team fell 19-7 to Lord Wandsworth College. Special mentions go to Sixth Formers Jack Vyvyan, Kia Trench, and John Gunn for their outstanding contributions throughout the tournament.
Meanwhile, the U15A team played their National Plate Semi-Final against RGS Guildford on March 5. St Paul’s led for much of the first half, with excellent tries from Ed O’Shea and Joachim Strabo (both Fifth Form). Despite heroic defence and two tries to Guildford’s one, three penalties saw the team narrowly miss out, losing 14-12. The team can be incredibly proud of their efforts and a successful season overall.
