St Paul’s pupils have enjoyed one of their most successful years ever in the UK Linguistics Olympiad.
In the Intermediate Round, four students earned Gold awards, a remarkable improvement from last year when no Golds were achieved. Congratulations to Fifth Formers Mikey Richards, Sehwan Lim, Yidong Xu, and Aengus McBrinn. Silver awards went to Issam Abou Zaki, Vinushan Chandrann, Nicholas Glaus (all Fifth Form), Rafael Modiano (Sixth Form), and Siddharth Raj Krishnamurthy (Upper Eighth), while Bronze awards were claimed by Jihang Xiao ( Sixth Form), Olly Zage (Fifth Form), Lucas Tao (Fifth Form), Sanjay Iyer (Sixth Form), and Ebrahim Gorjestani (Fifth Form).
Success continued in the Advanced Competition, where Adavya Goyal (Upper Eighth) scored in the top 12 nationally in Round 2. He has been invited to a training camp at the University of Sussex over the Easter holidays in preparation for the International Competition, marking the first time a Pauline has reached this stage since 2017.
Upper Eighth pupils Sam Christie and Aman Parekh also participated in Round 2, both earning Merits in an exceptionally competitive field. The organisers commented: “As always, the standard was extraordinarily high, so everyone who took part can feel proud of themselves.”
This outstanding performance reflects the dedication and talent of our linguists.
